I’ve had the book that I wrote about electric golf cart repair available for quite a while now as an eBook on Amazon, but I continue to get comments about not being able to easily print the schematics from the book. It is possible to print a copy of almost anything you want to from an eBook, but it takes a little work. Obviously, the publisher doesn’t want you to be able to just hit a “Print” key and print the book out. That would violate copyright rules. So, if I want to just copy a particular page or so, the way that I do it is to get what I want to print on the screen of the computer and then I hit the “Print Screen” key on the computer. When I do that, the computer copies an image of exactly what is on the screen to the computer’s “clipboard”. That means that the computer is holding the image (just as it looked on the screen) in memory. After doing that, I open up “Paint” (it is called 3D Paint on the version of Windows that is on my computer). Some version of “Paint” comes with all Microsoft Windows versions. It may also be called “MS Paint” or something similar. Once “Paint” is open, I just “paste” the image that was put on the “clipboard” of the computer during the “Print Screen” operation and there it is. I can then print the image from the “Paint” menu item. You obviously wouldn’t want to print MANY pages at a time that way, because you would have to repeat the process of “pasting to Paint” with each one, but it is a technique that I use quite often to make a copy of something in an eBook. Anyway, I’ve had enough requests to warrant publishing the book in a hardcopy format also. Many people want to be able to open the book up to a schematic and lay it on a table or the fender of the golf cart or wherever, and be able to look at it while working on the golf cart (I can just see the greasy thumb prints on it right now). Some even want to make their own notes on pages of the book. These things are hard to do with an eBook reader, so I have published the same book in hardcopy format on Amazon.
